Boating, fishing, and swimming are the main draws on the string of seven turquoise Colorado River reservoirs that wind through this picturesque portion of the Hill Country. Most visitors to Burnet County, in the Highland Lakes region about an hour northwest of Austin, come for the water. This problem deals with the process of decomposing a target area polygon into a set of images from space that cover the target in the smallest possible schedule duration (makespan).Texas Monthly’s Small-town Travel series explores the culture and history of destinations off the beaten path, offering advice on where to stay, eat, and sightsee. Lower-level scheduling: area coverage planning Asymmetric slew costs mean that an exhaustive solution cannot discard 1/2 of the search space using a symmetry argument. Time varying slew costs mean that any approach that relies on a triangle rule to prune search space may be invalidated. There is a second, lower-level planning problem that focuses on how to effectively tile out and schedule polygon area requests. The Eagle Eye project focuses on a larger scale planning/scheduling problem where the planner must choose which targets are visited in which sequence to maximize the satisfaction of the input science campaign deck. Polygon operations, computational optimizations and KML input/output are re-used from the CLASP swath module library. Spacecraft and celestial ephemeris-related computations are computed using the SPICE framework. This allows science teams to draw their campaigns in external tools like Google Earth.Įagle Eye draws from heritage software. The interface for science campaigns is with an extension of the Keyhole Markup Language (KML). Observations could be observed once, or repeatedly with revisits forming a temporal constraint network (TCN). Science campaigns can include individual points and polygons on an observed body, or a distant celestial objects. The Eagle Eye model was originally created for the proposed Eagle Eye ISS-mounted gimballed telescope, but can also be used to schedule observations for body-fixed instruments if the scheduler is allowed to steer the bus.Ī schedule consists of a set of observations that satisfy some science campaign. 2D framing instruments acquire a whole rectangle at the same time, like a digital camera. Pushbroom sensors generate an image by dragging a 1D line across the target, like a scanner. This is a relatively young research area because most of the older space-based imaging sensors are 1D pushbrooms. The Eagle Eye project is a specialized ASPEN model that focuses on planning and scheduling observational coverage for space-based, steerable 2D framing instruments.

The lower armor belt was just under 11 inches in the magazines and 8 inches covering the machinery spaces. The armored center section featured a main belt of just over 16 inches of armor inclined at 20 degrees, half of which was below the waterline. The total weight of the armor was 22,534 tons or 33.1% of the design displacement (6). The Yamato Class’s armor and other protection was unrivalled by any other Battleship. No other Battleship’s Main Gun has ever had a maximum range of this distance (5). The range of Yamato Class’s main gun was 25 miles according to Battlefield historical archaeologist Dr. projectile at a rate of 1.5 rounds per minute (3). It was equipped with 18.1-inch Main Guns which could fire a 3,219 lbs. The Yamato Class was a technological marvel that could wipe out any ship by its destructive firepower and was virtually impervious to any ship weapon. The Japanese Yamato Class was designed to both participate in this decisive struggle and sail across the vast Pacific Ocean. The Imperial Japanese military forces and their government also wanted to seize the oil and other natural resources of China, the Dutch East Indies, Malaysia, Singapore, French Indochina, Brunei, and Burma. Military would then mount a military campaign to retake their colony of the Philippines and the Imperial Japanese Navy would then decide to engage the United States Navy in a place somewhere in the western Pacific when they felt the time was right to stop the American advance to retake the Philippines. The Imperial Japanese Navy felt that this decisive naval battle would occur after the Japanese military forces seized the Philippines. Like the outcome of the Russo-Japanese War the Imperial Japanese Navy thought, that the war against the United States Navy would be decided in a single great naval clash involving Battleships (). This theory was supported by the Battle of Tsushima which occurred on May 27th -May 28th 1905 during the Russo-Japanese War. The tactical and strategic role that the Yamato Class was built to fulfill was the Imperial Japanese Navy’s belief that the fate of an entire war would be determined by a great naval clash involving Battleships (2). So, you build an enormous battleship that is basically the equivalent of two or three and which is capable of taking on multiple warships at any one time”(). According to historian and author James Holland, “The Japanese realized they couldn’t possibly hope to catch United States and Great Britain in terms of numbers of warships so the principle behind it was if we can’t get the numbers we will have a qualitative advantage. The Yamato Class was designed to defeat a huge quantity of enemy naval forces. The technical information alone about the Yamato Class leads to the conclusion it could defeat any ship on the seas, and had events gone differently for the Japanese Military the Yamato Class could have been a game changer! The changing situation of the Pacific War ultimately doomed the Yamato Class ‘s fate - it could have helped Imperial Japan win the Pacific War had the military situation been different and had the battleship been deployed earlier. The Yamato Class was created to fulfill a specific technological, strategic, and tactical goal. The Yamato Class Battleship was the most destructive ship ever constructed in history. Unpair the Bluetooth device from Mac and pair it again Sometimes, the problem may lie there instead of your Mac. Is the Bluetooth device you’re trying to connect, like the wireless keyboard or mouse, come with a dongle that plugs into your Mac? If yes, consider using a different USB port of your Mac or USB hub.Īlso, use it with a different laptop or TV and see if the keyboard and mouse work or not. If yes, the problem may have been caused by external hardware interference. Now, see if Bluetooth works well on your Mac or not. If USB dongles, pen drives, printers, and other such hardware are connected to your Mac, consider unplugging them. Please note that things like AirDrop and Unlock Mac with Apple Watch use Bluetooth to communicate, but you don’t have to count those as connected devices. But still, if you’re facing issues, you can temporarily remove the extra ones. On my Mac, I have connected and simultaneously used up to four Bluetooth devices (keyboard, mouse, AirPods, and an Android phone). As a rule of thumb, you can reliably connect 7 to 10 Bluetooth devices. But for a decent experience, it is strongly recommended that you disconnect the Bluetooth peripherals you do not need. Disconnect Bluetooth devices you do not needĪre multiple Bluetooth devices connected to your Mac? If yes, consider removing some. If not, you can take out their removable battery and reinsert it. But most likely, every keyboard, mouse, headphone, and wireless device has a power button. The steps to do this depend on the device. While your Mac restarts, make sure you turn off the other Bluetooth device and turn it back on after a minute. When your Mac’s Bluetooth is unavailable, not connecting, shows a grayed out icon, fails to show as an available device, and such, restart the computer. If the device has no obvious button or option to disable and enable Bluetooth (like AirPods, keyboard, mouse, etc.), restart it or put it in their charging case. If you can’t find the Bluetooth icon here, click the Apple icon > System Preferences > Bluetooth > Turn Bluetooth Off.Īfter about 30 seconds, enable Bluetooth again. Go to Internet Options in Control Panel and on the Security tab. There are plenty of extensions out there that can optimise browser performance and reduce the amount of RAM that’s being used up, mainly by keeping a lid on how many open tabs are running. With all of these options, FoxyTab works. It adds a collection of tab-related actions that you can use in Firefox for example, sorting tabs by URL, merging windows, and duplicating tabs, just to name a few. If you like to customize your experience when managing tabs, FoxyTab is a good option. Change system folder settings to show all hidden files Step 4. FoxyTab - Best tab manager for customization. Remove The Great Suspender Chrome Extension related plug-in, toolbar, add-on, extension from Chrome/Firefox/IE/Edge Step 2. Most browser makers suggest that resetting the application back to its original defaults can lighten the load on your system, because it cuts out some of the bloat that may have gathered in terms of unused extensions and cached data. Your browser should apply the upgrades automatically, but it’s worth double-checking. These updates will often include optimizations and tweaks that lighten the load on the RAM (and CPU time) that your browser is using up. First, keep your browser software updated to the latest version. If you’re not able to keep the number of open tabs down to just a handful, you’ve still got other options. Remember that tabs you’ve closed can be reopened with just a couple of clicks through your browsing history. While it’s tempting to keep everything open all of the time, showing some discipline and closing down tabs you’ve finished with (at least for now) makes a big difference. Free up some RAM, and you’ll be left with a more responsive and faster experience on a Mac or PC.įirst thing first: The fewer browser tabs you have open the better - at least when it comes to memory management. With some careful management, you can make sure it’s using the minimum possible amount of RAM - the Random Access Memory that’s like thinking space for your computer. There are ways to counteract this though, no matter which browser you’re using. That means your browser can very quickly start taking up a significant amount of your system’s resources, especially if your open tabs start to stack up in double digits. We will be looking more closely at ditch kits and their contents in a future issue. (No raft contained a proper radar reflector, a glaring omission in our view.) Even those sailors who have a customized life raft survival kit should be prepared to pack additional gear and supplies in an overboard bag. In our view, none of these standardized packages is ideal. The International Sailing Federation (ISAF) and the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) have their own guidelines for what should be included in the packs, and these kits tend to be less comprehensive than commercial-grade SOLAS A (offshore) and B (coastal) survival packs. The hierarchy of life raft survival packs ranges from a basic emergency kit (E-type) that the manufacturer puts together to the internationally standardized Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) A-package, which is more comprehensive and nearly twice as heavy as the E-type kits. Two manufacturers, Winslow and Switlik, included separate ditch bags with the rafts they sent, and the contents were specifically chosen to supplement what was packed on their respective rafts. It was no surprise that some packs were more complete than others. It should also help you determine what contents will be required for a separate abandon-ship bag, or “ditch bag.”įor our life raft test, we asked each maker to equip its raft for an offshore voyager planning a Caribbean cruise and possibly carrying on with a trans-Atlantic crossing. This evaluation of survival equipment is primarily a guide to choosing on a life raft kit that is appropriate for your needs. With this in mind, our ratings focused on the rafts themselves. Some makers also allow you to customize the pack to fit your own specific needs. The manufacturers featured in our life raft evaluation offer several options for survival packs, and in most cases, you can pay more for packages that are superior to those we were sent for review. Six manufacturers participated in the test: DSB, Elliot, Switlik, Viking, Winslow, and Zodiac. Our recent test of six-man life rafts (“Elliot Life Raft Rises to the Top,” April 2007) gave us the chance to see what survival gear gets packed into an offshore life raft, and how this equipment varies from one manufacturer to another. A close look at the survival gear that each life raft manufacturer provides reveals that its generally left up to the owner to provide the gear that is more likely to expedite rescue (like a 406- EPIRB) or keep him alive (like a Katadyn hand-operated wate maker). For Practical Sailors six-man life raft test, the examiners looked at eight life rafts suitable for a cruising sailboat with far horizons: the DSB 6-ISAF, the Elliot 6-SOLAS, the Switlik MD-3, the Switlik SAR-6 MKII, the Viking Rescyou, the Viking Rescyou Pro, the Winslow Ocean Rescue, the Zodiac Class Ocean ISAF. As AA, the missile has slightly lower range than radar based SAM platform, but with 70% accuracy it's comparable to an upgrade to Stinger C, paired with an SPAAG, it can shoot down almost every plane who entered its range. As AT, it's the best ATGM available to NATO. The ADATS is one of the most expensive support units, costing 110 points, but its combined abilities make up for it. A Canadian based battery 119 Air Defence Battery was formed equipped with ADATS. 4 CMBG had 129 Air Defence Battery which had twelve ADATS vehicles. The two Airfield Defence Batteries which become 127 & 128 Air Defence Batteries had four ADATS vehicles and eight radar-guided Oerlikon GDF twin 35mm guns. and one year later proved mostly useless, thanks to the end of the Cold War. It was finally Canada that selected it as it's versatile new low-altitude air-defense system in 1986, with 36 ADATS ordered. They ordered more testing, even contemplated mounting the system on a Bradley chassis, but finally declined the project in 1989. The missile was first tested in 1981, but the US Army, despite being in dire need of a replacement for the cancelled "Sergeant York" program (1985), hesitated. Hard to see where bombs gonna fall sometimes.ADATS was first designed by the Swiss company Oerlikon in the mid-70's, before entering into a partnership with what is now Lockheed Martin to propose it to the US market. – Plane bombing zone isn’t enough precice. – More realistic combats (ex: 4 soldiers with no bazooka vs a armored tank armed with a gatling should have no chance to survive, a helicopter taking a plane missile should crash…in that case add a helicopter landing option to avoid missiles…etc) Act of war was very realistic that way. – A map editor can bring this game to a new level, plz let us use our creativity. – Terminator vehicules have too much options and make other vehicules in that action near useless in second time. – Possibility to destry and repair bridges Don’t like the fact that the end of the game is conducted by how many ressource building you have, there were no ressource building in AOW and that was perfect, zone control was primary objective all along the game) – Possibility to desactivate ressource building (ex: underground market / black market ) in game lobby (improve prisoners cature utility and make zone control more important. The Stryker ICV with the ACCEas a troop transport. The Stryker MC with the prototype FCS Mortar. The Stryker MGS will be replaced by the M8 Thunderbolt in the light tank role. – The Strykerfamily is the one which was modified the most. Of all the Strykers, only the AGM one will remain as it is. – All Humveesmodels were given a makeover, yet the Humvee Mk.19variant was removed from the game. Those are model changes, not new units, nor do their stats change Some of the US Army’s largest families of similar units have been “repackaged”, in order to make them easier to recognize and to project this faction more in the near-future like the others. – MG Nests & Sentinelsturrets are a bit less resilient. – Artillery damage have been toned down a bit. – CIWS (vehicle-mounted or turrets) are now less effective all over the board. They are also less prone to moving in reverse mode, making U-Turns much faster.Īll in all, units’ reaction time to orders has been cut in half, without loss in performances. Unit’s acceleration & deceleration times have been improved. Major gameplay modifications ( builders, economy & planes) for the Reboot Edition have already been detailed, but they are not the only ones: many other aspects of the game were also improved. New Orleans Saints at Arizona Cardinals (-1.5, 45) do you think it continues? Let me know, and here are the league wide trends and a note to consider for every team as we head into Week 7: Sure, six weeks does not a season make, but what we've seen up to this point is overwhelming. How does that stack up with the past? From 2016-21, underdogs covered 49.4% of the time and pulled off the outright upset just 20.9% of the time. This season, when that is the case, underdogs are covering at a 63.2% clip, winning outright 35.5% of the time. The cover (and outright win) rates for underdogs of five or fewer points this season essentially matchup with the rates from 2016-21, but once you cross that 5-point spread, the dogs are barkin'. It's been no secret that underdogs have been profitable on the whole this season, but with a week like the one we have coming, it's important to add context.
